与斯坦因不同，伯希和并没有在他的日记中记录下他是如何与王圆箓达成交易的，但伯希和的确从藏经洞里带走了大量文物精华。此外，与斯坦因再度来到中国遭到驱逐不同，伯希和与中国学界始终有着「微妙」的互动和友好的交往，1932年伯希和再度访华之时，受到了中国学者的热烈欢迎。为什么会出现这样强烈的对比？我们今天该如何理解伯希和与中国的关系，又该如何理解历史？
