  • Excellent Podcast

I love this podcast. They present the truth and examine it with God’s word to share what’s happening in N.C. that affects families and their communities. Our family has been supporting them for years on the basis of their

  • Well written but extremely biased

This is one of the many “Christian” podcasts that picks and chooses which information to share so that they can further their agenda. They brought a guest on who categorized all of the Black Lives Matter (although of course they failed to use that title) protests as violent looting. This is harmful, false information. Nearly all of the 2020 protests have been peaceful: that is an indisputable fact. The willful blindness of some of my Christian brothers and sisters in NC is heartbreaking. If thes... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Holding App Stores Accountable (with Melissa McKay)
Q: How did you approach creating and passing legislation like the App Store Accountability Act, and what was the role of your FTC complaints in that process?
I compiled years of research, drafted initial bills into PowerPoints, then worked with attorneys to draft formal legislation; the FTC complaints served to document findings and push federal attention, while state-level actions built momentum for broader change.
Holding App Stores Accountable (with Melissa McKay)
Q: First of all, just walk us through this journey. What happened that you went from being a mom to stepping into this legislative advocacy?
I never planned to be a legislative activist. After seeing a dangerous gap in school device protections, I began education about tech and porn in schools, then expanded into policy work, organizing experts, and pushing for state and federal reforms.
The Case Against Tech in Schools (with Dr. Jared Horvath)
Q: What should parents and schools do moving forward?
Focus on providing evidence-backed educational practices, maintain controlled use of technology, create dedicated spaces for tech learning, and emphasize thinking and learning over tool-centric approaches.
The Case Against Tech in Schools (with Dr. Jared Horvath)
Q: What is EdTech, in practical terms, and why does it matter for students?
EdTech is essentially any internet-connected device used by students; the claim is that it's meant to access learning, but the guest argues that the mere presence of devices doesn't guarantee better learning and may undermine core cognitive processes.
When It Comes to Sports Gambling, Everybody Loses: Part 2 (with Danny Funt)
Q: Are there ways that we can begin for those of us that are concerned? Are there policies? Are there state laws that we can begin to enact? What about the ads?
There are middle-ground reforms possible beyond outright prohibition, including tighter guardrails on advertising, whistle-to-whistle bans in some places, stricter age verification, and education initiatives to reduce risks for young people.
