As a dog owner, I want the best for my little guy. He’s my everything! But sometimes general nutrition isn’t enough. Tuning into the spiritual side to nourish is a new direction for me, and I’m really stoked to learn more. This show highlights actionable ways to do this with a blend of woowoo and reality. • Insightful, inspirational, and informative

I have a challenging dog and for the past 2 years I have listened to a ridiculous amount of dog behavior podcasts. I was so focused on traditional training until I came upon this podcast and this has really inspired me to slow down, consider other ways of helping my dog, and focus more on our connection. It has also opened my eyes to more natural ways of living my own life and raising my children. Alexia is so kind and lovely. She always takes the time to answer questions and offer support and I... more

Revisited: Redefining Reactivity, Recognizing Trauma in Your Dog with Dr Laura Donaldson
Q: How do we shift from labeling a dog as 'reactive' to a more productive understanding and response?
Labeling reduces complex behaviors to a single noun and obscures underlying needs. A better approach asks what relief the dog seeks and why the behavior is happening, often due to neuroception of danger and amygdala hijack. This reframes responses from suppression to addressing root causes and safety, using grounding, safe exposure, and collaborative problem-solving.
Revisited: Redefining Reactivity, Recognizing Trauma in Your Dog with Dr Laura Donaldson
Q: Could you talk a little bit more about trauma in dogs and how you define it, especially when it might not be obviously extreme?
Trauma in dogs can be present even without obvious catastrophic events; it encompasses deep emotional learnings stored in the body, with coping mechanisms that arise to keep the dog safe. Trauma is not just an event but a process that shapes perception and behavior, often manifesting as hypervigilance or avoidance. Understanding this reframes behavior from 'naughty' to a meaningful survival strategy, guiding more compassionate, informed responses.
Revisited: A Deep Dive into Allergies, Intolerances, and Sensitivities with Dr Katie Woodley
Q: If you could leave pet parents with a recommendation, what would be your top tests to consider for allergies and intolerances?
Her preferred starting point is a hair tissue mineral analysis to assess nutritional status and detox capacity, followed by microbiome testing to understand dysbiosis; she emphasizes tests should guide a broader healing plan rather than sole reliance on results.
Revisited: A Deep Dive into Allergies, Intolerances, and Sensitivities with Dr Katie Woodley
Q: Can you tell us about your Blueprint program and how someone could work with you on skin and gut issues?
She describes a three-month intensive program with one-on-one consultations, a private community with weekly Q&As, testing, and a comprehensive Blueprint curriculum that focuses on interconnections between gut health, immune function, and overall healing.
Revisited: A Deep Dive into Allergies, Intolerances, and Sensitivities with Dr Katie Woodley
Q: How has TCM informed the way that you think about supporting the body through allergies and intolerances?
Dr. Woodley explains that she combines scientific, evidence-based approaches with Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts, using food therapy and energetics to support the body's systems and to address underlying imbalances rather than just treating symptoms.
