In this episode, we cover three one-word shows– APPLAUSE, COCO, and PURLIE– that haven't had much life after their original productions, and discuss whether or not they deserve another look. (Spoiler: for the most part, no.)

As we wrap up 1990, we try to answer all your burning questions: How many cooks were REALLY in the kitchen behind the scenes of Grand Hotel? Is "Chet" a normal nickname for "George"? What the hell is going on in "The Trolley Song"? All this and more!... more

i cannot fathom the amount of work that this show took! fingers crossed that it returns someday
More like 3 1/2 stars. Very well researched, with credit given to source material, enabling the listener to compile a good bibliography. Interesting insights abound.
I must subtract a star and a half, however, for the mannered and unpleasant delivery and speech patterns of the hosts, especially the male voice: valley girl upspeak peppered with prolonged vowel sounds, glottal stops, and “likes.” Ugh.
love this! Learning new things having a great time. You can tell a lot of care and research goes into the episodes.
Love this show and its 2 hosts! just one critique: i think the audio levels need to be normalized. Tim's audio peaks way higher than Anna's, so i find myself having to turn my volume down and up constantly. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
such a great podcast an easy listen and definitely an easy binge
