馬偕醫院所紀念的就是一位叫做馬偕的加拿大傳教士。他於19世紀末期至台灣傳教與行醫，與馬雅各齊名。在臺灣，一般人皆稱為「馬偕博士」或「偕牧師」。馬偕的一生被以「寧願燒盡，不願朽壞」（Rather burn out, than rust out）讚賞，他的座右銘為「攏是為基督」（All for Christ）。馬偕的一生幾乎都奉獻給了台灣，連死後也葬在台灣，留下了許多首詩，充滿了對台灣的疼惜及愛戀。馬偕在台灣留下了許多的貢獻，現在就跟著姆斯叔叔一起來聽聽馬偕博士為台灣奉獻的故事吧~~Let's go... more

鄭用錫是臺灣納入清朝版圖後第一位臺灣本籍進士，有「開臺進士」、「開臺黃甲」之譽。在其之前，臺灣已有陳夢球、王克捷、莊文進三人考取進士，然而陳夢球屬於旗人，籍貫為福建泉州府同安縣人，以漢軍正白旗籍中舉，故有一說稱王克捷為「開臺進士」，莊文進為「開鳳進士」，鄭用錫為「開淡進士」[2][3]，但王克捷為福建省泉州府晉江縣籍，移居臺灣寄籍諸羅縣，莊文進以臺灣鳳山縣籍登科後，又回歸祖籍晉江縣，因此「開臺進士」之說依然是以鄭用錫為主。 跟姆斯叔叔一起來聽聽鄭用錫的故事吧~
