  • Pod is fine but...

... good content, riders, pro interviews but Neethlings obsession with name-dropping Rogan - flaming conspiracy loon & polarizing grievance-dealing divisive figure (like they're friends or something) - is enough to tune out. Admire whoever you like but no need to bring political hacks into the pod.

  • Andrew needs to shut up

It’s a good show. Guests like Allan Millway and Sven Martin really make it worth following. But Andrew is so convinced we need his exhaustive take on everything that it gets distracting and tiresome sometimes.

  • Top level mtb pod

Dunno how I took me so long to find but after running 15-20 pods I can easily say this five star material. The only gripe I could muster is wishing there were 2 pods a week, or at least immediate pre/post DH racing pods during the DH season (and why Andrew ref's Rogan as if he should model bloviating tinfoil hatter). Having Eric Carter on every few episodes for a 15 minute slot would rule. Andrew is one of the OGs, has a compelling voice & ideas. This is easily one of my top 3 mtb pods.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#184.Nino Schurter (THE GOAT) Staying #1 for 20 Years.Nino Opens Up on Life at the Top & Retirement
Q: Did you ever try crossing over to road racing, and why didn't you pursue it further?
I tried a brief stint with a pro road team to see what it was like, but I quickly realized it wasn't my environment and that my strength and passion lay with mountain biking, allowing me to focus on competing at the highest level in XC.
#184.Nino Schurter (THE GOAT) Staying #1 for 20 Years.Nino Opens Up on Life at the Top & Retirement
Q: What was your biggest mental strength and how did you train that aspect?
My mental strength and the ability to stay focused on the moment were crucial. Training included suffering in workouts to condition the mind, accepting the need to endure hard days, and using power-meter data to guide training while remembering to trust the body over metrics.
#184.Nino Schurter (THE GOAT) Staying #1 for 20 Years.Nino Opens Up on Life at the Top & Retirement
Q: When did retirement start creeping in, and what made you decide to wind down?
I started thinking about it after the Rio Olympics and realized I'd already achieved a lot; the motivation was still there but the time felt right to end on a high, with a fitting finish at Lenzerheide and Gaumontana that felt like the perfect goodbye.
#182. Is This the Last Darkfest Ever? Sam Reynolds on Its 10-Year Legacy & Future of Big Air MTB
Q: How do family commitments influence decisions around risk and continuing to ride these jumps?
Family considerations have become central; the risk-reward balance shifts when you have kids, so I weigh the ability to go home and be with them against the drive to push the sport forward.
#183. Luke Meier-Smith’s Unreal Rise: He Almost Quit… Now He’s a World Cup Winner
Q: What was it like winning your first World Cup and the aftermath with teammates and family?
Luke recalls the surge of emotion, tears, and celebration with teammates, plus the personal moment of his brother at the finish line and the lingering impact of that victory.
