The production value on this podcast is amazing. It feels like a bunch of friends broke into a studio, stole a bunch of production equipment, and people from a studio and are using it for their podcast. The players are learning the system as they just started with pathfinder 2e but correct a lot of their mistakes as they go. This makes the show good for learning the system for new players too. The show also has a good balance of combat and role play so you won’t go too long without either. The w... more
I've finished the first major arc of this actual play podcast and will stop listening now
Positives: Excellent audio, sound effects, music, & singing. Distinct player characters in their personalities and voices. Good pacing
Negatives: Origins. The game master places his player characters in unfair situations but also uses house rules, on the fly rulings, a miracle, etc. to soften consequences of choices, though this is subverted once. Game system felt somewhat irrelevant. Story trumps it
I am a massage therapist with adhd and I can be really annoying if people want a quiet massage, so to combat my yapping I keep a headphone in my pocket with audio content ready to go so I can entertain my own self. On an especially quiet day of work I can consume like 10 solid hours of content, and I don’t have a lot of time between sessions to manage the queue, so normally I’m looking for older, longer, and/or complete games so that I can trust I know the next thing that plays is my show. This show is absolutely amazing. The music and sound effects just push it over the top. It is so hard to find a homebrew, especially one with a story that makes me exited to find out what’s coming next. Thank you so much for doing this, GM Zach, and all of Digbys crew. By the way I don’t think there is any plot armor, and that anybody who thinks that is just looking for the bad.
Definitely my favourite real play podcast.
Well produced hour long episodes that are all play - they introduce the characters and do a quick recap and then it’s straight into the game - no 20 minute intros of banter and injokes here!
The characters are well defined and there’s good roleplaying and some fantastic set pieces - the first big fight is in ep 5 or so, and it sets the series up so well. The GM has a homebrew world, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing more of it!
