  • Refreshing

Im a mom of three (soon to be four) and have been living abroad the last ten years. We aren’t “missionaries” in the traditional sense. I’ve just started listening to this podcast and really enjoy listening while cooking and doing the daily grind. I love the intentional conversations and variety! Haven’t found anything else like it to date. Very needed. Thank you for your persistence in creating great content.

When Nobody Calls to Check On You: Soul Health, Hidden Burnout, and What Missionaries Actually Need
Q: So Mindy, could you highlight a few of the key findings from your research on missionaries' soul health and what stood out most?
The main pattern shows a move from striving to true abiding, with burnout linked to imbalanced flywheels, and the strongest deficit being relational health rather than finances or job tasks. Spiritual friendships and practical SoulCare practices emerged as crucial levers for restoring health and sustaining mission work.
Being a Woman on the Mission Field: What We All Need to Know with Denise Beck (EE)
Q: What unique strengths do women bring to the mission field?
Women bring strong community-building, capacity to gather others, resilience forged through grief, and a perspective that helps teams endure hard seasons and see ministry from new angles.
What Missionary Kids Need Their Parents to Hear with Macy Gutierrez, Gabriel Gomez & Michelle Escobar
Q: Did you feel more like a missionary kid or a missionary yourself while growing up?
Gabriel/Michelle/Macy discuss the shift from being seen as the child of missionaries to owning their own callings and recognizing their own roles within the mission.
What Missionary Kids Need Their Parents to Hear with Macy Gutierrez, Gabriel Gomez & Michelle Escobar
Q: Macy, what would life have looked like if you had never moved to the mission field?
Macy reflects that she would likely be a very different person—less resilient, with different passions and possibly not pursuing ministry at Highlands College.
Is AI a Ministry Ally or a Spiritual Threat? with Carey Nieuwhof
Q: Are we at risk that artificial intelligence, meant to be a helpful second brain, becomes the only brain we rely on?
Yes, there's a real risk of being lobotomized if we rely exclusively on AI without being careful.
