The Grateful Dead have been so well documented but there has always been a void in regards to Vince. This podcast gives a long needed perspective on his career. It does a good job of hitting the important points. Some of the phone interviews could have been edited down and the audio could be better in spots but the content is good. It’s a tough balance trying to keep his memory alive, highlight his achievements and address all of the hardships and trauma. Well done getting the cooperation of his... more
Loved the idea of a Vince Welnick podcast, but this one is clunky and pretty rough around the edges. The host spends a lot of time repeating the same information. The interviews have sound quality issues and kind of ramble. I wish the editing and production was better. The most interesting things about Vince and his time with the Dead seem to have been avoided for now - maybe subsequent episodes will get to the heart of the matter, but for now I’m not sure I can recommend it.
I’ve always liked Vince’s work with the Dead. He seemed like the coolest guy, a genuine character and it was very sad when he passed.
This is a well done podcast and it’s very cool that his wife is part of it too. Thanks for doing this!
