  • Inaccurate

Listening to the latest episode on Covid 19, it is obvious that this research source has a biased perspective on the outlook of Mexico. Past administration programs are praised, yet any current policies are disregarded as failure and corrupt. Objectivity is lost.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

87: Stopping the Flow of US Arms to Mexico (Guests: Isabella D’Alacio, John Lindsay-Poland & Gerardo Álvarez)
Q: How does a gun travel from purchase in the US to use in Mexico?
Guns move through a lifecycle involving manufacturers, distributors, dealers, straw purchasers, and smugglers; parts can be smuggled and reassembled, and time to crime can span years, with border dynamics and market demand shaping routes.
87: Stopping the Flow of US Arms to Mexico (Guests: Isabella D’Alacio, John Lindsay-Poland & Gerardo Álvarez)
Q: What is exactly the problem with gun smuggling from the US into Mexico?
The problem is a vast, fragmented US gun market that enables easy access to firearms, which then flow across the border through multiple channels, with illegal trafficking exacerbating violence in Mexico and contributing to crime in both countries.
94: Why Is Mexico’s Economy Struggling — and Can It Turn Around?
Q: What reforms could help Mexico attract sustainable investment?
Implement credible property rights, simplify and modernize the tax system, reform public spending toward productive infrastructure, and streamline numerous regulations to reduce bureaucratic burden and increase productivity.
94: Why Is Mexico’s Economy Struggling — and Can It Turn Around?
Q: Why has Mexico's economy underperformed despite proximity to the U.S. market and a strong industrial base?
A combination of structural constraints, including an anti-investment business environment, loss of confidence for long-term investment, policy uncertainty from both domestic decisions and external shocks, and a large informal sector that undermines formal growth.
95: The Binational Bank Tackling the Border’s Water Crisis
Q: Can you describe the Water Resiliency Fund and how state or regional efforts in places like Texas relate to NAD Bank's mission?
The Water Resiliency Fund is a tool to support border communities by aligning NAD Bank resources with state programs (e.g., Texas Prop 4 and SB 1169) to leverage greater impact; NAD Bank collaborates with entities like the Texas Water Development Board to scale up investments in water storage, desalination, and conservation across the border region.
