  • My weekly highlight

I love this podcast. From the whimsical banter to the high-level minutia of Martin guitars. Not only do I feel entertained but enlightened. And somehow listening has even made me a better guitarist.

Truly, a great podcast not only for Martin’s and Blue Ridge guitars, but just to understand the making and function of guitars overall.

Tom Fleischman
Q: How long ago was it that you went from being an apprentice or however you would call that, to being the only guy in the room?
Tom shares his experience of being trained in a different system in New York, mixing alone rather than traditionally alongside other specialists in Hollywood.
Tom Fleischman
Q: Tom, I want to interject here because I have noticed I've never had the modern television surround sound stuff or even a sound bar. So I've never had a central channel. I always just been hooked up to stereo speakers. And it seems like, and I wonder about that, if what I was hearing was I don't have a center channel, and so I'm not getting the dynamic that the mix of that particular Blu-ray or whatever was intended for.
Tom explains that films are generally mixed with a center channel and that not having one can affect sound dynamics.
Tom Fleischman
Q: Tom, did you think we would already need edits at the first minute?
Tom humorously responds that they always need to cut the slate out, keeping the vibe light-hearted at the start of the episode.
Martin Guitar 2025 Standard Series Refresh
Q: What was the model that debuted in 2024 that gave us a sneak peek of the new neck?
It was the Oahu HG28, the Hawaiian guitar.
Craig Thatcher & The Martin 000-11E
Q: How do you juggle being a solo artist, being a collective that does the tributes and the Martin side of things?
It's definitely a balance. The Martin work during the summer is not... Chris, you know, I travel pretty much exclusively now with Chris Martin.
