Braden Speck - Newly Minted 5* Eventer!

He details multiple horse losses, an ACL injury, and the mental resilience required to stay in the sport, emphasizing the human–animal bond, careful planning, and a supportive team.
Braden Speck - Newly Minted 5* Eventer!
Q: What sparked your journey into riding and how did you progress to Five Star level?
Braden explains growing up near a strong eventing community, starting on a pony from a family with Olympic history, and gradually moving up with patient training and a trusted coach, Liam the horse guiding him through the levels until Kentucky.
Angie Cooney - The Right Touch
Q: How did you end up in the Olympic sphere as a physio and what was that journey like?
The journey started with word-of-mouth and incremental opportunities as she proved her value on the ground—working with horses and riders, earning the trust of coaches, and taking on multiple roles. A pivotal moment came when the team asked for her to come to a training camp, and from there she earned credentials and a permanent place on the team, ultimately traveling to the Pan Am Games and the Olympics. The path was built on perseverance, practical results, and a willingness to balance family, work, and travel.
Lizzie Hoff Returns as a 2026 USEF Eventing Development 25 Athlete
Q: What advice would you give to a young rider trying to enter the sport successfully?
Find balance between horses and real life; maintaining interests outside riding helps sustain motivation and happiness, which ultimately fuels long-term commitment and performance.
Lizzie Hoff Returns as a 2026 USEF Eventing Development 25 Athlete
Q: How do you manage riding while in college, and what does your weekly schedule typically look like?
I ride three full days a week when I'm home with my horses in Pennsylvania, supported by Caroline and her team, and I balance school by arranging classes and travel so I can ride on weekends when I'm away at Syracuse.
