  • Pretty preachy and woke since late 2023. The concept and execution of the premise is decent, but never impressive. Just garden variety chummy, silly food humor and pop culture references.

  • Good stuff

Interesting idea to create dungeons on the fly, and I love the casual conversations in the side quests.

Loved hearing how quickly the group came up with plot, dungeon layouts, NPCs, and more! It’s inspiring me to (finally) finish writing my own home brew campaign. This podcast super creative and hilarious! Excited for the next episode!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

MD 410 - Greezy G w/ John “Hambone” McGuire (321 RPG, Vintage RPG podcast)
Q: What inspired the Greasy G concept?
The idea blends Ghostbusters, grease traps, and Memphis grease culture, with a haunted cuisine motif that evolves into a ghostly army for the Secret Chef.
MD 408 - Messy Mass of Mice (M³) w/ Andre Novoa (Games Omnivorous, Mausritter Month, The Job)
Q: What is Mausritter?
Mausritter is a minimalist, streamlined RPG about playing as mice in a human-sized world, focusing on an inventory system and a bite-sized setting format.
MD 402 - Pizza Queen w/ Andrew Kolb (Wonderland, Oz & Neverland Role-Playing Settings)
Q: How would you use this crazy killer monster in a game and what game would you run it in?
It fits gonzo games as a centerpiece but can also slot into grounded modern fantasy like Earthbound-inspired adventures; the idea is to place a pizza-obsessed queen in a space or town setting and resolve it through exploration, combat, and a climactic confrontation.
MD 406 - GART: Goblin Art Collective w/ CJ Somavia (GLAIVE, Grand Rituals, Hothead Collective)
Q: How would CJ suggest using Gart Collective in a home game?
CJ suggests either a boss encounter or a sequence where players move through each Gart member, using diegetic elements and a hex map to guide the progression rather than rigid combat rules.
MD 411 - The Candleman w/ Joey Royale (Get Haunted Industries, Weird Heroes of Public Access (WHPA), Ninja City)
Q: Joey, what did these words make you think of?
They triggered images of a carnival-like Candleman who deals in magical candles, with a band of rogue toddler ninjas riding coyotes as debt-collectors, and a setting that blends public-access culture with Lovecraftian whimsy.
