我的朋友陈绍诚很懂《易经》，他跟我分享过一个故事。
有个人想做某个决定，但犹豫不决，就去庙里求签，签说不宜。他不甘心，过了两周又去，还是不好。后来他干脆找一个会卜卦的朋友，想再试一次。
卦象一出来，朋友就问他："你之前是不是已经问过了？"
他愣了一下，说是。
"因为卦上写着：不要再问了。你已经有答案了，只是不甘心。"
绍成讲到这里，我们都笑了。
是啊，很多时候我们已经有答案了，只是想从某个地方听到一个肯定："你这样做是对的"。

将近30年前，我还在哈佛念心理学硕士。
那时的我，一副不羁的浪漫研究生造型，但内心还是个焦虑的小孩。虽然已经出了几本书，也有了一点名气。但说实话，那个光环里，有很大一部分来自"刘墉的儿子"这个身份。
我一直在问自己：要如何找到自己的声音？社会上还有什么空间让我有自己的声音？
就在那段时间，林萃芬飞来美国采访我爸，顺道也来到波士顿采访我。这张照片，就是她当年在哈佛校园拍的。
我们坐下来聊了很久。那种被认真聆听的感觉，在我当时那个状态里，是很珍贵的事。

前阵子，我收到一封信。
写信的人叫Ben。他说自己是典型的理工男，不太会讲话。去年因为工作升迁，带着太太和孩子外派到美国。本来觉得是好机会，住下来才发现，没那么简单。
虽然语言交流不是问题，但每天都有一种感觉——我好像不属于这里。
在公司工作压力很大，他努力表现得完美，但一回到家整个人闷住，什么都不想讲，也不想做，更不敢跟家人说，怕他们担心。
当太太和孩子抱怨学校或生活上的事，他脑袋一片空白，只会回一句：再努力一点就好。

很多时候，你以为你在做选择，但其实，你可能从来没选过……
他自己就是一个例子，跑在国外读了五年书，从硕士到博士，看起来是他的主动选择，但在读博期间，他总是做同一个梦——梦里永远是家人在吵架、起冲突，一次又一次，完全停不下来。
