上一集故事中提到，爸在要去亨利叔叔家的路上，看到一隻大黑熊站在一棵大樹腳下，有好多蜜蜂圍繞著牠，黑熊把一隻前腳爪伸到樹洞裡去，不一會兒抽了出來，腳爪上還滴著蜂蜜。於是爸急急忙忙趕回家，趕著馬車把斧頭、洗衣盆、燒開水鍋子和所有木桶、提桶放到車上，到蜜蜂樹那把蜂蜜帶回家。

上一集故事中提到，師徒四人來到一條叫做「通天河」的大河邊，沿著河岸走到一處陳家莊，村里有戶人家正在辦超生法會，主人陳澄很虔心的招待了三藏師徒一桌齋菜。三藏他們才知道這超生法會是因為陳家的一對孩童要被獻給靈感大王，悟空變成了男孩陳關保，八戒變成了女孩一秤金，救了陳家人。
後來妖怪逃回通天河裡，讓河面結冰引誘三藏過河，趁機抓了唐三藏，幸好觀音菩薩帶著紫竹籃來救三藏，原來靈感大王是養在觀音菩薩蓮花池裡的一條金魚，天天聽菩薩講經竟然修練成精了。
