Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Kovid Goyal: Linux, Window Managers, and GitHub Controversies
Q: Are you happy with your decision of working full-time in open source?
No, no, I'm very happy with open source. I think I have more freedom to work on whatever I want, doing Calibre, Kitty, open source work.
Kovid Goyal: Linux, Window Managers, and GitHub Controversies
Q: Why didn't you go with Emacs?
The main reason is that I have very big hands. The shortcuts with lots of modifiers are difficult and painful for me.
Kovid Goyal: Linux, Window Managers, and GitHub Controversies
Q: How would you respond to a 2009 PR that you're not going to merge, that doesn't fit your design goal?
I write a couple of lines explaining why it's not fit and I close it. If the person is pushy about it, I say, it's open source, you're free to fork it and maintain your own fork with your features.
Kovid Goyal: Linux, Window Managers, and GitHub Controversies
Q: Why do you want to be in the terminal most of the day?
Mostly because Terminal based workflows are keyboard first. You can do a lot more with the keyboard than, you know, most of the GUI programs.
Andrea, The GOAT, Borman: Let's talk Linux, OSs & More
Q: What do you think about Gentoo and the furries? Have you seen the furries?
I don't know about Gentoo, but I was thinking of Openshot, where they had the Zaha Pack Manager, package manager. But, all right, when I did the command in the terminal and looked at it, it worked similar to Abanto and Fedora.
