在明朝歷史上，若要提起“奸臣”，嚴嵩便是不二人選，嚴嵩從一個眾人推崇的青年才俊，經過了“三部曲”的推演，最終成為了嘉靖一朝的「奸臣」。雖然嚴嵩在擔任首輔時期被無數次彈劾，但每每有始無終，他安然掌權二十年。而「嚴黨」最後被清算，兒子嚴世蕃被斬首，但嚴嵩本人卻仍能以八十七歲的高齡，在江西南昌壽終正寢，可見嚴嵩在當時的名聲並沒有後來這麼惡劣。真正讓嚴嵩成為「奸臣」的，卻是一位清朝的皇帝和一部今天已經不知名的戲曲《鳴鳳記》，本期節目解析忠臣是怎樣鑄成的。
