哪一件事最常阻礙基督徒，使他們無法經歷上帝在生命中帶來的奇妙改變？是漫不經心嗎？是缺乏美好的基督徒團契生活嗎？還是誘惑？
我認為是缺乏禱告。
你我的禱告多常得到上帝的回應呢？很多基督徒不了解身為上帝兒女的真正意涵。我們既然可以向祂訴說內心真實的需求，我們的禱告當然也可以得到一個明確、合理、可辨認的回應。

(五)你在建造什麼
隨著年紀日益老邁，我們沒有多少時間可以揮霍。我們必須避免落入「常常學習，終久不能明白真道」的景況（提摩太後書3章7節）。唯有不斷操練我們的信心和順服，我們對真理的認識才能增長。
神學家巴刻（J. I. Packer）說，我們奔跑人生的最後一圈時，必須「把握當下，為主而活」。
他的勸勉，呼應著湯姆士·肯恩主教（Bishop Thomas Ken）1674年所寫詩歌中的一句歌詞：「每一天都當作在世
的最後一天。」

(四)留下遺澤
我們離世後, 人們會怎樣紀念我們？
葬禮中的悼辭，通常會美言亡者及其作為。
隨著時間流逝，人們往往會忘懷他們所做的事。畢竟，有多少人會記得我們祖先的作為？
省思
反思耶穌的遺澤，你自己從中領悟到哪些功課？你的省思對你的行事為人及當專注的焦點有什麼提醒？
你能想到哪一些逝者留下極佳的典範？他們的遺風怎樣表明他們的信仰、價值觀、人際關係，以及生命的優先順序？
這些遺風怎樣使上帝得著榮耀？

(三)活在盼望和信靠中
各樣挑戰伴隨著年老不期而至，包括疾病，或許還有寂寞和抑鬱，以及對未來的恐懼。但對相信基督且與祂同行的基督徒來說，心中總有盼望。對於我們生命的結局，基督有最終的決定權。正如上帝創造萬物之後說的話一樣，祂會說：「這是好的。」上帝為
我們的益處，讓萬事互相效力（羅馬書8章28節），祂必賜下最終的結論，宣告說，祂透過我們一生的高山低谷所成就的一切，都是「好的」！
上帝若幫助我們，誰能敵擋我們呢？又有什麼能使我們與上帝的愛隔絕呢（羅馬書8章31、35節）？

(二)為進天堂做準備
我們當中有些人很善於計數，但是我們在數算什麼呢？我們在數算最重要的事情嗎？
正確數算自己的日子，其實是要意識到我們剩下的日子已被數過，而且它實在不是個大數目。數算自
己的日子意味我們要得到真正的智慧，領悟到「我們在世的光陰有限」這句話的含意。這樣的智慧使我們
能夠從上帝永恆的國度去理解如何活得有意義，因我們在世上的日子與永恆息息相關。
我們必須正確地從上帝永恆的角度來看待自己有限的年日；惟有如此，我們才能從轉瞬即逝的年歲中覓得真正的意義。

思考天堂之事 (一) 天堂會是什麼樣子
基督徒經常遭人批評太注重天堂之事，以至於他們對這塵世毫無貢獻。這樣的說法的確沒錯，因為有些基督徒的生活確實無法將未來的天堂，與當前的世界連結起來。
沒有人能充分想像或精準地描述天堂會是什麼樣子（參閱哥林多前書2章9節），但是，現在我們有一些概念了。我們思考天堂之事的角度不應當是「我們將會做什麼事」，甚至不是「我們會成為什麼樣子」，而是我們會與誰同在
（啟示錄21章3節）。

我將怎樣離開這個世界呢？
許多年長者大概都會思考這個問題。
我們當中，許多人可能希望有個舒坦愉悅的落幕。聽聞一些人在睡夢中溘然長逝，沒有遭受任何病痛，我們或許希望自己也能這樣離世。然而，比較睿智的人會注意到，沒有人能掌控自己的生命將如何終結，所以他們認為，沒有道理為這件事費心或擔憂。
