Thank you Jay and Andrew. Excellent podcast from two owners who are much further down the road as shop owners than i am. I learn from every episode and hope to be able to learn some of the hard lessons the easy way: through others experience rather than my own pain.
Hey guys, I like the podcast. Some times a bit to lean for my liking but I still enjoy the ideas.
One thing I’m always asking myself when you talk about taxes- move your tax year end to a non-busy time of year. Whether that’s for you or your accountant. Why make it Dec 31 the busiest time of the year if you don’t have to?
Thank you for this fantastic podcast, Jay and Andrew! I am sad to say I have finished listening to the backlog of episodes and can no longer do any more binging, haha.
I'm not a business owner or a current machinist, but Jay and Andrew do a great job of using different examples and analogies, so it never feels like you're drowning in technical mumbo jumbo. If you're an up-and-coming entrepreneur, business owner, machinist, or even just a casual fan of Lean Principles, you will get a whole lot o... more
I just finished binging this show starting from the beginning, skipping a handful that were nearly exclusively about machining (I have a sewn goods company). I want to say THANK YOU! This podcast introduced me to lean and I went down the rabbit hole… people centric lean, 2 second lean, binging Paul Akers books and videos, Ryan Tierney’s book and podcast, Tom Hughes books and now GembaDocs for Kanban & SOPs… it has completely changed my approach to business and it is already drastically improving... more
Soooooo..... I didn't hate the church podcast but really wanted to hear the lean podcast.

Two manufacturing entrepreneurs explore lean principles, operational dilemmas, and the pursuit of freedom in life and business. Episodes center on practical, battle-tested lessons for small shops—from CAD tolerances and customer communication to simple systems, SOPs, and empowered teams. A distinctive angle is the emphasis on humane, people-centered lean, with real-world anecdotes, humor, and a clear bias toward actionable takeaways rather than theory. The show often blends shop-floor anecdotes with leadership and culture insights, making it useful for owners, managers, and operators who want to improve efficiency without sacrificing work-life balance.
Noteworthy strengths include a strong emphasis on collaboration with customers and vendo... more
