  • The most prepared and engaged host

I am always amazed how prepared Tanveer is for his guests. He’s clearly read their work, come up with unique questions, and angles where his work intersects with theirs. It’s obvious in the quality of the conversation that comes out the other side. Plus, could any podcast host have more infectious energy…wow! Fifteen years of wisdom and enthusiasm. Let’s all hope there’s another 15 still to come.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Kimberly Davis | Why Bravery Is Something You Do, Not Feel
Q: What is the super objective, and how does it connect to leading with courage in everyday situations?
The super objective is a clear, external focus that drives decisions and actions so that the leader's energy goes toward achieving meaningful impact for others, which calms the amygdala and guides brave, authentic responses in difficult moments.
Kimberly Davis | Why Bravery Is Something You Do, Not Feel
Q: But for that to happen, leaders have to first start with themselves and how they show up. Could you tell us a little bit more about this, Kimberly, and why leaders need to orient their leadership in this way?
Leaders need to redefine bravery as being their most confident, authentic, and powerful self, which then enables them to show up consistently for others. When leaders focus on authentic impact and the needs of others, engagement and performance follow as a by-product, not the primary target.
Liane Davey | The Real Reason Burnout Keeps Getting Worse Despite Everything Leaders Are Doing
Q: What are the four energy wells and how can leaders use them?
The four energy wells are physical movement, organization, social connection, and meaningful small steps; recognizing your overwhelm style and applying the corresponding energy well helps restore energy and reduce thoughtload.
Liane Davey | The Real Reason Burnout Keeps Getting Worse Despite Everything Leaders Are Doing
Q: How does the strategy of chasing outcomes, not outputs, help reduce thoughtload?
By shifting attention from activity and outputs to outcomes and then to activities, leaders can avoid busywork that doesn't move the needle, ensuring efforts actually affect the world and improving efficiency.
Liane Davey | The Real Reason Burnout Keeps Getting Worse Despite Everything Leaders Are Doing
Q: What is Thoughtload and why should today's leaders familiarise themselves with it?
Thoughtload is the invisible tax on performance caused by rising cognitive demands, emotional burdens, and diminishing energy; by focusing on outcomes first and aligning attention to those outcomes, leaders can reclaim agency and drive meaningful results.
