  • Glad I was advised to listen

I’m an IT Manager, and while spending time with my husband’s oldest friend, he asked if I knew who Kim was. I said no, and he told me I really should be listening to her—she shares a lot of great tips, and he’s learned so much from her.

I decided to check it out and quickly found myself completely engaged. I ended up listening all weekend, catching up on both her current and older podcasts.

She also sends out a daily newsletter, The Current, which I love. I often find myself creating reminders... more

  • AI instead of Kim and Andrew? No thank you…

I have been listening to the podcast since it started and part of what made this entertaining was the banter and impromptu organic conversations that came with it. If I really wanted AI to read me the newsletter, I would just plug it in to ChatGPT or another engine, come back to us for real Kim.

I’m still giving you a strong rating because the content of your newsletters is always fantastic and I can always find something to help my elderly parents or other members of my family, just miss the ... more

  • Thank you Kim!

I’ve been listening to this podcast for a while now. And I was so happy to hear Riley’s voice! Of course we all want to hear Kim, but if it has to be an AI voice, Riley is great!

  • I hate the AI host, sounds like an ad

I keep tuning in hoping Kim has reconsidered this choice. It’s so plain vanilla. Actually its plan artificially-flavored vanilla, so even worse. Bring back the actual ppl

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Waymo takes riders on police chase
Q: Hello. So thank you very much. So tell us what happened.
The guest Elliot recounts riding in a Waymo that unexpectedly veered into a construction lane, sped through cones, and triggered a police stop, with the vehicle eventually slowing and exiting to a neighborhood as authorities intervened; the moment raised questions about safety and accountability in autonomous vehicles.
“Flock cameras almost got me arrested”
Q: What happened when you were boxed in by police at Kohl's parking lot?
The guest details how four officers surrounded the vehicle, asked if he was armed, and eventually went through ID and ownership documentation, revealing the car was a press loan rather than stolen. The situation was confusing and tense, but relations with the officers remained professional.
Deepfakes are getting harder to spot
Q: What if a deepfake of the president triggers a national emergency, and how real is the risk?
The risk is serious and not purely theoretical; it represents a national security concern because adversaries could manipulate information to provoke panic or mislead decision-makers, and the delivery mechanism through social media makes rapid, widespread impact feasible.
Why people are ditching Ring cameras
Q: How do you view the balance between safety benefits and privacy concerns with these devices?
Safety can be enhanced, but the potential for overreach exists. Transparency, clear warrants, and limitations on how footage is accessed or shared are essential to prevent abuse and to protect individual privacy.
Why people are ditching Ring cameras
Q: What would you tell the average American who has a ring doorbell and thinks its primary purpose is safety and tracking visitors?
That camera is part of a much larger surveillance network that could be used by police. While it may help with some crimes, you should consider who has access to the footage, how it can be used in investigations, and the broader implications for privacy in everyday life.
