  • Glad I was advised to listen

I’m an IT Manager, and while spending time with my husband’s oldest friend, he asked if I knew who Kim was. I said no, and he told me I really should be listening to her—she shares a lot of great tips, and he’s learned so much from her.

I decided to check it out and quickly found myself completely engaged. I ended up listening all weekend, catching up on both her current and older podcasts.

She also sends out a daily newsletter, The Current, which I love. I often find myself creating reminders... more

  • AI instead of Kim and Andrew? No thank you…

I have been listening to the podcast since it started and part of what made this entertaining was the banter and impromptu organic conversations that came with it. If I really wanted AI to read me the newsletter, I would just plug it in to ChatGPT or another engine, come back to us for real Kim.

I’m still giving you a strong rating because the content of your newsletters is always fantastic and I can always find something to help my elderly parents or other members of my family, just miss the ... more

  • Thank you Kim!

I’ve been listening to this podcast for a while now. And I was so happy to hear Riley’s voice! Of course we all want to hear Kim, but if it has to be an AI voice, Riley is great!

  • I hate the AI host, sounds like an ad

I keep tuning in hoping Kim has reconsidered this choice. It’s so plain vanilla. Actually its plan artificially-flavored vanilla, so even worse. Bring back the actual ppl

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Your TV is a spy
Q: Walk us through what happens in case somebody does not turn off ACR and opt out of data collection.
TV manufacturers broadly collect viewing history and other data by default, build profiles, and may use that data for targeted advertising; regulators have criticized the lack of clear notice and easy opt-out, and some companies have faced legal actions to improve consent.
"ChatGPT saved my life"
Q: Did you take this results from what Chat had told you and brought it to all the doctors that told you go somewhere else or there's nothing I can do and rub it in their face?
That is a great question. And candidly, no.
Guy Kawasaki: Big Tech reads your texts
Q: What is the core message of your book Everybody Has Something to Hide?
The book advocates privacy and security in everyday communication, stressing that private messages can reveal sensitive information and that individuals should take active steps to protect themselves.
Guy Kawasaki: Big Tech reads your texts
Q: How do you handle the reality that most people don't use Signal yet?
You acknowledge the hurdle but frame it as a trade-off; use Signal for the most sensitive conversations and gradually convert close contacts, using tools like clear signals (e.g., a personal address) to guide people to transition.
Guy Kawasaki: Big Tech reads your texts
Q: Why would you want to switch to Signal from a platform like WhatsApp or iMessage?
Signal provides stronger privacy through end-to-end encryption and minimal data retention, making it harder for third parties to reconstruct who you are communicating with, while still offering secure messaging for important conversations.
