  • Love the podcast, hate the sexist jokes

Really love the podcast and find it so informative and useful.

However, I find myself increasingly enraged and disappointed by the often sexist, misplaced “jokes” of the man doing the market reports. I feel his comments add nothing of humour to the podcast and highlight just how far we have to go as an industry towards gender equality. It is really disheartening as a woman working in the dairy industry.

The comments relating to the England womens football team this week with regards to him “id... more

  • Fast forward to the interesting stuff

Once you get past the grating and misplaced theme tune and cringey self pleasing dad jokes from Chris, the topics covered are interesting and useful and in depth more of that latter please

  • BRILLIANT co-hosts

Best dairy industry podcast around. Always informative and highly entertaining, but it’s the talented, witty and devastatingly handsome co-hosts that make it. Whatever you’re paying Will and Ben, it isn’t enough! ;-)

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Tenants Farmers Association supports rent reviews with landlords
Q: Tell me about the process. How should farmers go about asking for a rent decrease?
The host explains that tenants must serve a rent review notice (Section 12 for older Agricultural Holdings Act tenancies or Section 10 for newer farm business tenancies), initiating a 12-month negotiation period; the TFA has provided template notices to encourage widespread use, even for non-members, to press for lower rents.
Arla Workforce Shortage Discussion
Q: Tim, was there anything in particular in this survey that jumped out to you?
The age profile shows the need to recruit new people, with over 48% of respondents over 55; it signals urgency to attract younger entrants and train them on the job where needed.
Arla Workforce Shortage Discussion
Q: What does better education and training mean in practice?
Embed food and farming in the curriculum, give hands-on experiences, and create clearer routes with employer support to recruit, train, develop, and retain the workforce; it's a collaborative effort across education and industry.
Dutch Nitrogen Rules: What does this mean for future of dairy?
Q: What are the proposed measures in the Dutch nitrogen policy?
The measures include tightening targets for nitrogen-sensitive areas, imposing a cap on dairy herd density at 2.6 cows per hectare, restricting land for expansion, and partially cancelling rights when ownership transfers occur; overall aims combine tech adoption with reduced herd sizes to lower emissions.
Mentoring Matters: Driving Growth in Agriculture
Q: How do people get the ball rolling with TwoCan Mentor and start the process?
