  • My daughter loves this

This podcast is so very helpful for kids navigating friendships. Unfortunately kids don’t really learn how to be friends so this podcast helps them to navigate the inevitable bumps in the road.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Friend lies and boasts (Martha, Age 9) | 140
Q: Hi, Martha. My question is, my best friend started lying and boasting to our group of friends. What should I do?
Empathize with her feelings and avoid public confrontation; explain that while you value the friendship, honesty matters, and use warm, inclusive actions to help her feel accepted. Try to include her in activities and show genuine warmth so she feels she belongs, and consider stepping back from direct calls to admit lies in public—address it gently and privately if needed.
Can we be friends with anyone? (Michael, Age 9) | 141
Q: My question is, can you be friends with anyone?
You might not want to be friends with everyone because you won't share common interests or spend time together, and friendship requires mutual care and interaction, but you can still be kind and respectful to everyone you meet.
Friend copies her (Jemma, Age 12) | 139
Q: What do I do about my friend who copies everything I do?
The host explains that copying can come from admiration or a wish to spend time together, and suggests reframing the situation by recognizing your own unique strengths, encouraging your friend, and choosing constructive ways to interact, such as spending time in a group or highlighting differences to reduce competitiveness.
When “joking” is mean, not funny (Seb, Age 11)
Q: Hey, my name's Seb. I'm an editing result. What do you do if someone's joking with you but you don't find it funny?
Hi, Seb. Thanks for sending in your question. That's a difficult situation when someone claims he's joking with you, but it absolutely doesn't feel funny to you.
Best friend won’t let her have other friends (Antonella, Age 10)
Q: What should I do if my best friend isn't letting me have any other friends?
You can talk with her about your wish to have more friends and ask for her help or tell her that you care about her but also want to have one-on-one friendships.
