Listened to every episode except I think the first two and some of the interviews. Perfect hosts for the job of covering this complex and fascinating 16 episodes of prestige TV. No ads. No annoying personality quirks that make you want to punch one of the hosts. Highly recommend.
I watched Kevin on Netflix, a few years after it aired. I was so grateful to find this podcast the accompany the episodes since I was trying not to get spoiled on the entire series. Great analysis and conversation. I’m equally sad that the show is finished, as is podcast. I am a little thrown off by the imbalance of the hosts. Caroline strikes me as someone who hasn’t had a lot of childhood trauma (Good!!), or relationship trauma (Good!!). The fact that she argues in favor of Patty and Neil’s dad not being an alcoholic abuser to his children, and not thinking Kevin would come after Allison if she left makes this 100% clear. I get a little frustrated with that while listening, but all in all it is a good companion to the show.
The idea that women are treated poorly in Sit Coms is mostly backwards.

The wife is “the Kevin”. The husband gets major abuse. I would never stay in a marriage like that.
Homer Simpson is the bafoon and he does not abuse his wife and he always looses in the end.
King of Queens and Kevin can wait. He is the bafoon and she never gets abused.
The only shows where there is real verbal abuse... more
Loved all the insights from you both as always. Gave me more to think about plot wise but even more than that, applying the themes to real life possibilities that arise really sticks with me. If I can’t evolve as a person every day than what is this journey called life anyway? Stay well, Caroline and Mike. U r good peeps!
