The poems in Abbie Kiefer’s debut collection, Certain Shelter, are, in my reading, about aftermath. They are about grief and loss, whether that is the loss of the speaker’s mother to cancer or her hometown’s changing landscape. But they are also abou... more
The paintings in Marisa DeLuca’s series Spectre document the changing urban landscape of the city she lives in—Oceanside, California—mourning spaces made ephemeral by the forces of gentrification. In our conversation we talked about the difference be... more

This is my favorite interview podcast. I have encountered so much new art and so many new perspectives from listening to this compassionate and introspective series.
I deeply appreciate Mike's thoughtful and well-considered questions. He brings out the best in his guests and I always learn something from his enjoyable shows. Bravo!
I’ve been introduced to many new artists and gotten to know others better from KTCO. Mike is a thoughtful, smart, and thorough host. More like talking to an old friend than being on an interview.
It’s rare that people really prepare for interviews, and it’s rare that people are both incredibly smart and incredibly generous, and so it’s only right to say that this is a rare show on several counts.
As evidenced by his guests, from Rachel Zucker to Hanif Abdurraqib to Brandon Taylor to Celeste Ng, Mike Sakasegawa has great taste in literature. And it is obvious he has given great thought on the art of the interview. Personable, intelligent and kind engagement to draw out the best in his guests.
