  • The Clangers

Love this comedy podcast from the dynamic duo Danny & Mark

I’m listening the wrong way round going back in time after only recently finding it.

So I’m hearing the reverse evolution!

    Sometimes it’s a superb shambles.

  • Walk the Walk

Great spin off show. I’ve been listening to you both so much recently that you featured in my dream.

You were both sat on a bench in an art gallery admiring some artwork, i recognised you from the back so i sneaked up and whispered ‘oooh how the other half live’

  • Next best thing to being at the fringe

This podcast is terrific, really captures The Fringe atmosphere and experience, warts and all; told by 2 of the hardest workers in the biz. Sadly couldn’t make it to Edinburgh this year but this makes it feel like I’m there.

FAQ me #2: Listener Questions
Q: Ian asks how Mark and Joel feel about performing in church and whether they'd modify material for retrofitted venues.
They discuss the logistical and ethical considerations of performing in non-traditional venues like churches, including audience expectations and how to approach potentially sensitive topics without causing discomfort.
FAQ me #1: Listener Questions
Q: How does a comedian know if their material has been done before? Do they even care?
Comedians do care and often check amongst themselves. The comedy circuit polices itself, and if a joke is too obvious or has been done, they'll often be told by peers.
FAQ me #1: Listener Questions
Q: How many times will you test a joke that isn't working before you drop it from a set?
A lot of comedians will say three to five times, but I'll try the joke in new material gigs first before it goes into a proper set.
FAQ me #1: Listener Questions
Q: As a one-liner comedian, what memory tactics do you use to remember jokes slash the order of jokes?
I just remember them, Joel. I've said them so many times, they're just in there. I record my shows and often watch them back, which reinforces the material.
FAQ me #1: Listener Questions
Q: What trends do you see in live and online comedy?
There's a lot of sketch stuff on TikTok and Instagram, and there's a lot of crowd work as well. But I think crowd work is less appreciated now, with audiences preferring well-crafted routines.
