The detail, the research, the storytelling, the editing– exceptional! One of the best podcasts out there for music lovers. A truly visceral deep dive into great artists' discographies. Highly recommend, especially the MJ and Janet Jackson episodes.

  • Scholarly, detailed, and demonstrative.

I learned so much about MJ’s BAD album years from John Cameron’s expert production. So much behind the scenes material I never knew about!

How he gathered all that content and arranged it so beautifully is a wonder!

  • Incredible

I have to admit I’ve only listened to the Michael Jackson episodes as a long time fan (since 1992). I was absolutely blown away by the amount of research, the pace, the originality of the structure in the episodes… seriously these are master pieces. Got goosebumps so many times throughout the episodes. Thank you so much JC!

  • Joni episodes are fab

Love the Joni Mitchell content. Does justice to her incredible song writing skills and her otherworldly music composition. Love the interview bits and Your insights.. Wish you had done Don Jaun’s Reckless Daughter track by track like hissing of summer lawns or Hejira or Mingus because in my opinion that’s her Magnum opus. But the best Joni episodes I’ve ever found. Hoping for more.

  • Listen, you will not be disappointed.

The time spent on making these episodes and attention to detail are astonishing. They stand repeated listenings, in fact, there’s so much to take in you will want to listen more than once. No matter how big a fan you are of any of the artists covered you will find something you didn’t know. And if you are not a fan you will still find each episode entertaining and informative. The latest episode on Michael Jackson’s Bad album is the best yet.👏👏 👏👏👏

  • Fantastic time capsule

This is the first podcast that I’ve ever wanted to listen to repeatedly. The content is too rich for one play-through. I am blown away by how insightful and entertaining this is, and how it brings to life albums that I have played for 30 years.

  • Incredible podcast. John is the perfect guide through the various periods of the artists' careers that he covers and his narration comforting and educational. He contextualizes each artist's work in a way that serves as a perfect companion piece to that particular era. If you love hearing tracks broken down, discovering new elements of songs you've listened to for years, and really hearing how all the layers of a song come together to create the final product, you will love listening to John's d... more
