Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Story Kitchen co-founder and producer Mike Goldberg
Q: So Mike, how is 2026 going, what big projects do you have lined up?
Mike outlines ongoing and upcoming adaptations with major franchises like Life is Strange for Amazon MGM, Tomb Raider, and Sonic 4, emphasizing the balance of creative development with production readiness and potential series orders.
Vice TV president Peter Gaffney
Q: How do you balance independence with partnerships and licensing in sports storytelling?
We collaborate with leagues when it makes sense but are also willing to tell stories that leagues may not license, ensuring we remain independent and fearless while still leveraging partnerships to broaden reach and authenticity in our sports documentaries.
Vice TV president Peter Gaffney
Q: You've learned a lot in year one; what surprised you and what does that imply for future content?
The key surprise is how strongly the Vice brand resonates when we stay true to our edge and independence; the future will emphasize brand-driven storytelling, exploring culture around sports, and pursuing unfettered narratives like Out of Bounds and other series that differentiate us from traditional sports programming.
Vice TV president Peter Gaffney
Q: Tell us about that audience and why focus on sports made sense for Vice TV.
The audience includes about 300,000 'super fans' who engage deeply, watching long-form content with a strong appetite for sports culture beyond just the games; this insight justified leaning into sports as a cultural engine that aligns with Vice's brand, enabling more authentic storytelling and deeper audience engagement.
Andy Chatterley, founder and CEO of piracy data tracker MUSO
Q: Starting with a general overview, what is MUSO in a nutshell? Why did you start the company? And why piracy data in particular?
MUSO began from a personal experience with a piracy leak on a family project, which highlighted the lack of effective external support and the sales losses from piracy. The founders built a system to track piracy sites, use metadata to locate content, and facilitate takedowns, then expanded into protecting other content types and finally created Muso Discover, a data analytics platform that not only helps fight piracy but also reveals audience demand signals to inform content buying and programming decisions.
