Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Live from the Nice Conference: Reto Suter, CFO of Siegfried
Q: What is the guest most excited to see Siegfried achieve in the next chapter?
The guest expects the same growth drivers that worked in the last decade to persist, with continued profitable growth and the expansion of capacity to support longer-term, large-scale manufacturing.
Live from the Nice Conference: Reto Suter, CFO of Siegfried
Q: Is the trend of smaller mid-sized pharma companies driving innovation and leaning on CDMOs likely to continue?
Yes, the guest believes the shift is structural, with small and mid-sized firms owning more early development and outsourcing later stages, aided by AI and new technologies, which should continue to expand capacity needs.
Live from the Nice Conference: Reto Suter, CFO of Siegfried
Q: And over your time, you have met lots of investors. So what is the one thing you'd like them to understand about Siegfried, beyond the numbers?
The guest suggests that the market underestimates the long-run compounding potential and overemphasizes short-term signals, implying Siegfried's real strength lies in its long-horizon profitability and the structural growth drivers.
Live from the Nice Conference: Ian Malin, CCO of Wizz Air
Q: Do you understand that impact? How well do you understand that? And does that give you an edge when you're looking at the new markets that we know if we take Wizz here, we think there'll be an effect that actually no one else is looking at?
We are getting smarter about market dynamics and use a data-driven approach to assess how product and network changes influence travel behavior and market opportunities, giving us a competitive edge in identifying and exploiting new markets more effectively.
Live from the Nice Conference: Ian Malin, CCO of Wizz Air
Q: Great. Well, I'd like to start at the top. And when we look at Wizz, you've got this incredibly young fleet, industry-leading unit costs. How as a team, how did you assemble that?
The fleet decision was made around 2018, and we pursued a strategy of collective negotiation with sister airlines to secure favorable terms from Airbus, which allowed us to bulk buy and then deploy the fleet strategically across markets as a group, while maintaining bilateral contracts with Airbus for individual terms.
