This week we're looking at the role of rules in creativity -- when to follow them, and when to blow them up with dynamite from the ACME Corporation. Plus: Struggle, drag, Scottish sheep, a good day's work, Jacques Tati, music halls, both-sidesing, hu... more

This week we’re talking about the work we did when we were young and foolish, or at least less experienced. How should we feel about it? Are regret or even shame ever useful?

As a fellow juggler with ambitions to write, this podcast is a delight. I engage with the creative process on a daily basis so to hear others exploring and articulating their understanding of it is wonderfully entertaining and instructive.
I love every episode! These two are smart and adorable. They’ve taught me about what they do—writing and variety performance—and in the process helped me think about about choice and habit, hard work and inspiration. In the most charming, honest way, they talk with each other about what’s behind the process of sending something you create out into the world.
I have no imagination but I do have a lot of junk. I also don’t have the creativity of Bill Barol and Mat Ricardo, so if they want to talk about how to find ways to be creative, I’m all ears.
It turns out they do, and in the most entertaining way imaginable. Where have you ever heard a discussion about style while Gorilla Monsoon is mentioned in the same sentence?
It’s fun, it’s helpful. It deserves a wide audience. Give it a listen.
Two episodes in and I feel like I've found the two most fascinating and entertaining conversationalists podcasting today.
I love seeing creativity at the forefront of a discussion in such an interesting way. These guys nailed it!
