This podcast helped me process a loss. Listening during the first couple of weeks gave me a community that I could relate to whenever I felt lonely in that grief. It’s a rare mix of real talk, irreverence, curiosity, depth, and funny stuff. The host, Micah Walsh, is always authentic and finds cool comedians I end up following long-term. • Exquisite audio exploration of grief and comedy

An enjoyable podcast from a hilarious comedian. Heartfelt, emotional, and also silly and twisted at times.

Also: I don’t know if you know this, but the sixth stage of grief is listening to this podcast.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 68 (with Grant Moore)
Q: Did you ever show your father your stand-up, and what was his reaction?
He was proud of him and laughed at some jokes, but ultimately advised not to do certain material about him; this reflects a balance between personal pride and boundaries with loved ones.
Episode 67 (with Clare O'Kane)
Q: How did your parents' deaths affect your approach to stand-up and humor?
Their deaths pushed me to use humor as a coping mechanism, but also to later reassess when and how to talk about grief, balancing honesty with the need to avoid turning every moment into material.
Episode 78 (with Matt Storrs)
Q: How has humor helped you cope after his death?
Humor has provided a way to acknowledge the gravity of the situation while also lightening the emotional load, allowing for moments of connection and memory—like the gumball machine in the funeral home or the Rickroll memory—that helped me to survive the initial shock and begin healing.
Episode 78 (with Matt Storrs)
Q: Did you see what was coming, or did you grieve him while he was still alive?
There was a long arc where we learned to adapt and set boundaries; I began grieving during his life as patterns and losses accumulated, and therapy helped me process those ongoing changes. By the time he passed, the grief had both been building and finally arriving in a moment of clarity that this was real, permanent, and something we all had to live with.
Episode 78 (with Matt Storrs)
Q: Okay. Tell me about your brother and who he was to you.
He was a older brother who shaped my humor with his chaotic, irreverent style; he struggled with addiction, and his life showed me the complexity of love, care, and boundaries within a family. His persistence through ups and downs taught me resilience and redefined how I view forgiveness and humor in the face of hardship.
