What is ASIO? I'm sure you've all heard of it, but do you really know what it does? Is it as sexy as James Bond leads us to believe or is it just part of the political fabric? Who better to give us the ins and outs than former ASIO intelligence officer, now comedian David Callan and National news director at Nova and journalist Michelle Stephenson. I Spied will take a look at the dark underbelly of the intelligence world and give its love-handles a damn good shake. With the recent drone strike on Al Qaeda head Ayman al Zawahiri and the very public shooting of former Japanese PM Shinzo Ade, it seems the darkest tool of the intelligence world is coming out of the shadows. Assassination is seen by many as an act o... more

I really like this podcast, I like how detailed it is. My only criticism is that the guy talks SO fast and sometimes mumbles through his words (when he’s excited about a topic) which makes it hard to follow what he’s saying. Overall, really great podcast!
What happens when your larrikin brother is somehow employed by ASIO. more
Insightful and funny in equal measure. Fascinating topics backed by obviously solid research. Thanks!
Fantastic series. Thanks David for the amazing depths of your research. more
I've become addicted to this podcast, which gives the listener a good old gawk into the world of ASIO, plus discussion on today's world of spying around the world in general. As David Callan tells us A LOT, his time in ASIO was the best training he could have hoped for to stand him in good stead for his current career in stand-up comedy! Just a word of warning - David frequently does this REEEALLY annoying thing where his voice goes up about three octaves. Once heard... it cannot be unheard.
