I recently stumbled across this excellent podcast and have been listening to it over the course of the last 2/3 weeks. I would regard it as a ‘must’ listen to any Elton fan. Thank you.
This pod is a precious thing. Neil's a great (and funny) presenter, interviewer (with the best guests [like Caleb Quaye!]), and he brings musical insight often accompanied by illuminating audio clips. So turn on the smartphone and shut out the lights: Neil Barrett is podding tonight!
Neil does a fantastic job with analysis of Elton's music, including breaking down individual parts of songs. He also interviews key people in Elton's history, asking insightful and well informed questions, often astounding his interviewees with his own historical knowledge. He is also pleasant to listen to, and seems like a very friendly person, as he is quite responsive to anyone who texts him.
When I was 13 years old, my older brother took me on the train from Long Island to New York City to see Elton and Ray Cooper at the Palladium. The year was 1979 and my life was forever changed.
