I’m not even a podcast girly fr but I tune into this one every Saturday! I love hearing Camille’s stories and hearing from different lesbians about different things especially because a lot of what’s discussed are conversations my girlfriend and I have all the time. Did all studs play basketball?
Q: How has family acceptance or rejection shaped who you are today?
Over time, family became more comfortable with who I am; you can't change a person, you can only be yourself and let people come around. Acceptance grew as people witnessed authenticity and stability.
Did all studs play basketball?
Q: As a stud, do you feel you have to take on certain roles or responsibilities in a relationship or in dating?
I think about it in terms of dynamics rather than rigid roles; I can enjoy a dominant role, but that doesn't exclude support and partnership from my partner. It depends on the person and the relationship, and it often shifts with growth and shared understanding.
Did all studs play basketball?
Q: Do you consider yourself a stud? And if so, what is your definition of what a stud is?
Yes, I would consider myself a stud. I define it as a masculine-presenting Black woman, rooted in history and within our community, where labels exist for masculine-presenting women.
why are lesbians so connected?
Q: How does your sexuality shape the way you DJ and curate spaces?
She explains being more attuned to the collective mood, reading the room, and choosing bookings that feel safe and inclusive, while recognizing the barriers non-lesbian or non-Black organizers can create.
why are lesbians so connected?
Q: Who is Lady JMW, and how did you become an Afrofuturist artist and DJ?
Lady JMW describes her journey from exploring multiple art forms as a kid to embracing Afrofuturism, blending visual art and music, and using DJ sets as a way to express collective joy and cultural memory.
