The inability to separate the banality of Fox News style political propaganda from objective analysis seriously detracts from the many excellent speakers and guests. Some are so biased that their constant overt political statements both undermines the objectivity of their conclusions and policy recommendations and degrades their credibility as experts within their resp... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How to Transform the Japan Self-Defense Force for Twenty-First-Century Deterrence
Q: Was the assessment based on Japan defending alone or with US involvement?
The war games modeled Japan defending itself with a token US contribution, designed to test JSDF-centric force design and the viability of protraction until US forces could flow in.
How to Transform the Japan Self-Defense Force for Twenty-First-Century Deterrence
Q: How much damage could the JSDF absorb in the studies that you did?
In the war games, Japan's forces typically sustain about half of their crude assets over a one to two week engagement, which is viewed as a deterrent that could push China toward seeking an off ramp rather than continuing a full-scale fight.
The Code as Witness: COVID Origins, Scientific Accountability, and Preventing the Next Pandemic
Q: On June 12th, DNI Tulsi Gabbard announced declassified evidence of 120 bio labs in over 30 countries; what alarms do you see in these networks?
The networks show global diversity and ease of access to facilities; while some controls exist domestically, international facilities remain a risk, and a global approach with stronger oversight and information sharing is required.
Deterring Russia and China: Securing America’s Nuclear Future
Q: How does the two-pier deterrence concept change the way NNSA plans its production and stockpile management?
The two-pier framework demands flexibility in weapons options, a broader set of capabilities, and faster delivery timelines so the U.S. can deter at lower escalation levels while providing credible assurance to allies.
The Annual Czech and Slovak Freedom Lecture
Q: What untapped potential do you see between the US and Slovakia that could deepen cooperation?
The untapped potential lies in business and investment, along with tourism and expanding the presence of Slovak companies in the United States and vice versa. This includes promoting an open, predictable investment climate and leveraging existing energy and defense collaborations to broaden practical cooperation.
