This is podcast is one part serious geopolitical, military and strategic analysis and discussion, one part trump campaign rally. The inability to separate the banality of Fox News style political propaganda from objective analysis seriously detracts from the many excellent speakers and guests. Some are so biased that their constant overt political statements both undermines the objectivity of their conclusions and policy recommendations and degrades their credibility as experts within their resp... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

US-Japan Cooperation on Naval Maintenance, Commercial Shipbuilding, and Shipping
Q: How compatible are the US and Japan plans for expanding shipbuilding capacity, and where are there synergies or gaps?
Both sides acknowledge that capacity expansion is a long-term challenge requiring shared timelines, policy alignment, and a clear demand signal. Japan aims to double its capacity by 2035; the US needs a strong domestic demand pipeline, supported by programs like SHIPS and MAP, with collaboration to leverage joint R&D and alignment on investment opportunities.
Securing America’s Critical Mineral Supply Chain: A Conversation with Congressman Rob Wittman
Q: How does the price floor and insurance-style mechanism work to encourage private investment while protecting taxpayers?
The price floor guarantees a minimum production price to producers, while the dynamic reserve and transparent price signals invite private capital and international buyers, maintaining a free-market framework with guardrails to prevent misuse.
Securing America’s Critical Mineral Supply Chain: A Conversation with Congressman Rob Wittman
Q: What role do allies play in the Secure Minerals Act framework and how can partnerships with Australia and others reshape the supply chain?
Allied cooperation expands the pipeline for mining, refining, and processing capacity, with formal agreements to process materials closer to sourcing and safeguard strategic interests, thereby reducing reliance on China and increasing resilience.
Securing Venezuela’s Freedom after Maduro
Q: How do external powers and regional actors fit into a credible transition?
Regional actors should align with a shared democratic agenda, support unconditional elections, and avoid pressuring the Venezuelan leadership away from a path that leads to democracy.
Securing Venezuela’s Freedom after Maduro
Q: What needs to be in place for free and fair elections system-wide, including local offices?
A new electoral board and CNA, a clearly defined timetable, and parallel advancement of stabilization and economic recovery to create the conditions for broad participation and legitimacy.
