Thank you for opening my eyes to the “great forgetting” and for getting me to know many unexpected figures of women writers. This podcast sheds a different light on a literary period that I thought a bit boring and certainly not as rich and nuanced as it turns out to be. Also, it presents many themes that feel quite contemporary. Thorough research, very good experts, intriguing subject and good pace: all in all one of the best podcasts I listened to. I really really really loved this podcast and I'm gutted it's finished.
I've absolutely loved this podcasts. It's incredibly interesting, wonderfully discussed and both the presenter and all her guests fabulous - I can't recommend it highly enough and I'm just sad there aren't any more!
I blitzed through the first season of Hidden Histories in an afternoon and I absolutely adored it. The discussions of the various women writers and their work was fascinating, but I really enjoyed that Helen, Liz, Sophie, and Jennie also touched on the wider sociological, political, and historical context of their subjects.
I very much hope there will be a second season!
Although at times the lit-crit and literary history terminology gets a little deep, this is a fun listen. It's like eavesdropping on a particularly well educated book group in a coffee shop.
