This is a group that immensely enjoys playing together and it shows. The ability to watch their characters grow over a series of episodes is great, and the people behind those characters also shine through. I love Star Wars, but I would probably listen to this group play any system in any genre, and I’m always excited to see what they’re doing next.
Ben is a fantastic example that that you don't have to be a professional voice actor in order to be an amazing GM. His knowledge of Star Wars and his ability to take any roll or curve ball thrown at him and spin a yarn without missing a beat is absolutely amazing!
... and you will be rewarded. Good gm ruling more for story telling than rigidity. Good collaboration and banter.
It is a fantastic Star Wars story podcast but also it helps you go through how to run an adventure. Unlike other SW podcasts, the host runs through the pre-made adventures FFG publish, so you can have a good idea of how to start running your adventures and be able to not railroad your players.
For anyone interested in actually playing age of rebellion or edge of the Empire this podcast is a must listen. It's entertaining, it's interesting and it's helpful!
Only a few episodes in but I love how its almost a learn to play
Well done to the whole group. As a GM of the same system. I love the way the whole game is run.
Very fun and casual play, while at the same time detailed and well thought out characters and narratives.
I have definitely taken some inspiration from your game and applied some to our games back home.
Well done to the players and GM. Keep up the great work.
I just finished season 1 and I love this show the characters are awesome and the DM is ruthless/caring at the same time and the loves the rule of cool and I can’t wait to see what season 2 has in store
A little late to this Star Wars actual play rpg podcast. However, this podcast is such a great resource for the adventures that have been already published as well as explaining how some of the mechanics of the rpg work. Even though I just started listening to it, it is a well performed podcast with great interactions between the players themselves as well as the players and the GM. May the Force be with y’all
Wonderful characters and story with just the right amount of metagaming. Can’t wait for what’s next.
Great cast of characters portrayed by excellent players, while the story is intriguingly told by the masterful GM. This live play podcast is an excellent addition to any role players collection.
I can't help but be in awe of how this show evolved into what it is at the end of 2018. The players have all been fantastic. I like how they've built a sense of community even in such a short time. Won't lie, but Leslie is my favorite. They're all exemplary as players and on the internet. They're all very open to discussion and are the nicest of people.
Modular campaigns simply don't interest me. I can't run or enjoy the railroad feel. Ben doesn't do that. He's the thinking man's GM. He's not o... more
I discovered this podcast thanks to the d20 radio network and have never regretted tuning in. My kids and I have listened enraptured to the tales of AMP and his loyal band of followers (we know who is really in charge, dude) and are rapidly plowing through “Friends like These”. My compliments to the players and Referee and we cannot recommend the show highly enough. Looking forward to more!
I came late to Heroes of the Hydian Way and I regret all those months I had it wasted waiting to start it. Ben, the GM, is engaging and really knows how to roll with the system to tell an excellent story. The players are funny, entertaining and easy to get on with. Hydian Heroes has a reputation as one of the best actual play shows out there and it is absolutely well deserved.
I’m not as intimately knowledgeable about SW lore as I once was, but the cast’s knowledge seems deep and they are committed to role play. The jokes are largely in character which I appreciate!
