  • Audio

I really enjoy the topics discussed, but I noticed in the recent episode on incels that the audio levels varied quite a bit between speakers. This made it a little difficult to listen at times, as the volume would sometimes be too soft and other times too loud, and I found myself constantly adjusting my earpiece volume throughout the episode. Thank you for the great content, and I hope this feedback helps!

  • Covid19 discussion between 2 scientific experts

The latest Covid19 discussion was fantastic (and electrifying!). It’s almost like the mirage of a conservative Lawrence Wong debating a more liberal OYK, except these are the scientists. I learnt so much! The interviewer was very competent too. Pls do more of these- I wish we can hear more from scientific experts, not just the MTF, when it comes to Covid.

  • Great podcast

I think the latest episode about second hand smoke was a episode I thoroughly enjoyed.

It was fair, informative, covered both sides of the matter and had a good conclusion.

    Keep it up!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Should we be rewarded for doing what's good for us?
Q: Do monetary incentives undermine intrinsic motivation for certain behaviors?
Yes, particularly for prosocial acts like blood donation, where paying people can crowd out intrinsic motives and make the act transactional rather than voluntary.
Should we be rewarded for doing what's good for us?
Q: How should incentives be designed for long-term habit formation?
Incentives should be frequent and strong enough to start the habit, but should balance desirability with gradual reduction so intrinsic motivation can take over; the design should also consider when to remove rewards based on whether people continue the behavior without incentives.
Should we be rewarded for doing what's good for us?
Q: What were the results of the year-long exercise study with daily financial incentives?
The study found that after nine months of incentives, many participants maintained the behavior even after incentives stopped, with perfect persistence in the average case, though some showed drop-off or increased activity; the effect varied across individuals.
Why teenagers become self-radicalised - and the warning signs to look out for
Q: What are the warning signs parents should look for?
Warning signs include withdrawal from family, spending excessive time online, making derogatory or suspicious statements about groups, distancing from norm, and discussing violent or extremist ideas; if noticed, initiate conversations and seek guidance from trusted programs like RRG.
What Pritam Singh’s re-election means for the Workers’ Party
Q: Were you both surprised by the outcome of the special conference and CEC results?
Yes, they were surprised by the scale of the secret ballot support, though some suggested it reflected underlying numbers Singh already had; overall, it signaled strong internal backing for Singh despite prior doubts.
