While delving deep into the persona of others, one might look up their name to see if the name’s meaning fits. Often it does not. But in Avrum Rosensweig’s case his name was most-likely bestowed as a prophecy of sorts. Avrum means, “Father to Many,” and while in no way is he old enough to be considered such, he has a way about him that reflects just that. As an author of a timely novel, I’ve been the guest of multiple interviewers, but few exhibited the depth of interest Avrum Rosensweig has for... more

PROFESSOR YOSSI SHEFFI: MIT'S ADMINISTRATION FAILED ITS JEWISH STUDENTS (AUDIO)
Q: Can you share a story of a student or colleague that stood out to you during this period?
One example is Will Sussman, a brilliant computer scientist who faced severe harassment and threats, ultimately affecting his career path and illustrating the personal cost of campus tensions and anti-Israel sentiment.
PROFESSOR YOSSI SHEFFI: MIT'S ADMINISTRATION FAILED ITS JEWISH STUDENTS (AUDIO)
Q: What motivated you to write the book and bear witness to these events at MIT?
The motivation was to record an oral history, set the record straight against denial, and confront a university culture that had not adequately acknowledged the crisis, while balancing anger with the larger goal of truth and accountability.
PROFESSOR YOSSI SHEFFI: MIT'S ADMINISTRATION FAILED ITS JEWISH STUDENTS (AUDIO/VISUAL)
Q: What motivated you to publish Unsafe at MIT and record the experiences of Jewish and Israeli students?
A firm commitment to recording the truth, ensuring that denial would not erase what happened, and honoring the courage of students and faculty who spoke up despite fear of retaliation.
PROFESSOR YOSSI SHEFFI: MIT'S ADMINISTRATION FAILED ITS JEWISH STUDENTS (AUDIO/VISUAL)
Q: Why do you think leaders at MIT failed to act decisively during the crisis?
The guest suggests leadership was overwhelmed and not fully aligned with the gravity of the situation, and that there was hesitance to challenge the narrative or take hard steps, even when it meant allowing students to be harmed or marginalized.
Torah, Thought, and Therapy: Rav Yoni Rosensweig on the Soul of Halacha (Audio/Visual)
Q: What is your expertise and where does it come from?
My formal expertise is in rabbinics and Jewish law, not mental health credentials; I collaborate with mental health professionals and draw from those relationships to guide others, emphasizing that one can help people meaningfully without a traditional psychology degree.
