I am new to Tékumel, and I have found this podcast highly informative and motivating. It’s slowly giving me the confidence to think I might be able to run a game in it.
This podcast has sparked my interest in Empire of the Petal Throne and the world of Tekumel. I've tracked down the novels so I could read the material they bring up and bought those PDFs currently available of the original material. My only wish is that they released episodes more frequently.
I like this podcast, however, for some reason, it no longer allows me to load it to my Ipod for about the last 7-8 episodes. Maybe something has changed or I am doing something wrong?
Professor M A R Barker is, in my opinion, America's unacknowledged Tolkien. Working with cultural ideas that stemmed from Mesoamerica, ancient Egypt and South Asia, rather than Europe, he created an imagined world at least as rich as Middle Earth. So I was delighted to learn of this podcast presented by people who knew the Prof before his recent death. Lots of great stuff here. Discursive, thoughtful, informative. A great way to begin your exploration of this particular pocket universe.
