  • Mixed

I have mixed feelings about this show. I like that it focuses on relatable family travel, not luxury trips. I like trip reviews with practical information and many other useful general travel tips which are often there. The one negative is that Joanna is clearly a beginner in points and miles and often makes comments on cards that are incorrect. More editing and research is needed before the episodes are published. If you know to go elsewhere for expert advice, the show is an enjoyable listen.

  • A fun listen!

These ladies are such a delight - love their enthusiasm for points and miles. They cater to “real life” travelers and that’s what most of us are (Instagram is not real life.) You can also tell they are genuinely friends.

  • Hosts don’t have much experience

I’m shocked by the number of 5 star reviews here - these people are definitely getting their friends and family to artificially inflate their ratings. This is clear if you Google literally any other established points and miles podcast and listen to the difference. One of these hosts admitted she’s never been on a business class flight. That’s pretty unbelievable. Never having booked a business class award seat and thinking you should start a points podcast is kind of like telling people you’re ... more

203. Galápagos on Points: How to Book This Bucket-List Trip for Less with @AdventuringPartyof4
Q: How did you handle inter-island travel within the Galápagos?
We chose to fly between islands rather than take ferries whenever possible to save time and reduce fatigue; inter-island flights were booked through local carriers (e.g., Avianca) and the other well-known providers ESOV and a partner airline, balancing safety and scenery for the family.
203. Galápagos on Points: How to Book This Bucket-List Trip for Less with @AdventuringPartyof4
Q: What was your approach to booking flights and connecting to the Galápagos from the U.S.?
We started with Quito as the anchor, using a mix of programs (Qantas for the first leg, Avianca for the internal legs, and some American Airlines routing). We kept an eye on transfer bonuses and used tools like Daydream Explorer to keep options open, then aligned hotel stays with a combination of portals and direct redemptions.
195. 48 Hours in Mexico City: A Points & Miles Travel Guide with @ThePointsPrinciple
Q: What would Cam and her family do differently on a return visit?
They would map out neighborhoods more thoroughly in advance (La Condesa, Roma Norte, Zona Rosa) to balance time across areas and plan day-by-day itineraries around authentic experiences, given the city's size and traffic.
195. 48 Hours in Mexico City: A Points & Miles Travel Guide with @ThePointsPrinciple
Q: What were the key logistics and costs for the hotel stay in Mexico City?
They stayed at Hilton Reforma in the historic center, with about 50,000 Hilton points per night for a family needing multiple rooms, facilitated by Hilton gold status via Platinum cards. They discuss breakfast value and the central location's impact on walkability and cost savings.
195. 48 Hours in Mexico City: A Points & Miles Travel Guide with @ThePointsPrinciple
Q: What made Mexico City an appealing 48-hour family trip, and how did they plan the visit?
The hosts explain choosing Mexico City due to proximity from Phoenix/Tucson, a strong flight deal, and a wish to explore a city with rich culture and accessible family activities. They detail staying in the historic center near Alameda Central, walking the area, and focusing the agenda around iconic sights and kid-friendly experiences.
