  • Host talks too much

It would be much better if the host let the guest talk. He needs to learn to listen. Show is 80% him talking

  • Good But!

Update: 10/21/2017 I've decided to unsubscribe to this podcast. For the simple fact that the audio is so poor. On a recent road trip I listened to the episode with Johhny Highland. Between the host and Johnny, the audio of them talking on what sounded like speaker phone chatting was just too much torture! I'm Out! Show content is good but really, Mark needs to work seriously on his audio. It's hard on the ears listenting to someone talk in a hard room and the sound of the quest coming out of a s... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Guitar Radio Show Ep 429- Lyle Workman
Q: How did you get involved in movie music and scores?
I started through collaborations with different composers and a pivotal executive from Universal who heard instrumental work I'd done and saw a niche I could fill. From there I connected on Judd Apatow projects like 40 Year Old Virgin and Superbad, and the experience grew as I built relationships with musicians and film teams.
Guitar Radio Show Ep 428- Tomo Fujita
Q: How did you arrive at Don't Worry, Don't Compare, Don't Expect Too Fast?
It emerged from coaching a student with anxiety and realizing those words helped steady his progress; over time, they became a philosophy I used with many students to keep focus on growth rather than fear or external validation.
Guitar Radio Show Ep 427- Robben Ford
Q: What was the core idea behind the two shades of blue concept and how did it evolve?
It started as a Jeff Beck tribute and grew into two records in one, with a shift towards blues and R&B, and a more personal approach once Ford returned to the UK group setup, which allowed the music to breathe in different directions.
Guitar Radio Show Ep 426 - Ella Feingold
Q: What's the story behind inverted tuning and its practical use on sessions?
She explains the tuning, how it reassigns chord tones across strings, the availability of custom string sets, and how it unlocks new voicings, with examples from her work and a teaser about a possible Fender signature.
Guitar Radio Show Ep 426 - Ella Feingold
Q: How did you get into funk and R&B, and what shaped your early guitar voice?
Her upbringing with black American music and watching mentors like Spanky shaped a foundation in groove, feel, and minimal motion, which informed how she approaches rhythm and touch.
