With the start of the year, James speaks to Rob about what he would like in a new campaign. What do you want from a new campaign? What works today, what do you want stop doing, and what new themes or concepts do you want to incorporate. If you have a... more
Emperor James discuss some sacred cows in AD&D such as do players kill off their characters or do DM’s? Then he discusses Rules versus Rulings. He highlights the Kick Ass Magic Item of the episode and then shows a ebay purchase that brings back memor... more
The second age of Grogtalk continues with Emperor James joined by the Production Goblin. They do a “tiered” list like all the cool kids are doing. This one is about the orginal AD&D 1st level Cleric spells. GROGTALK is available as a podcast at www.g... more
The second age of Grogtalk continues with Emperor James joined by the Production Goblin. They do a “tiered” list like all the cool kids are doing. This one is about the orginal AD&D multi-classes. We don’t do dual classes because, well they are dumb.... more
Dan and James had a chemistry that made the show work. I’m sorry to learn Dan is not doing the show anymore. Of the numerous guests they have, almost all have redeeming qualities except Vic Dorso. He is everything wrong with 1e. He relishes in trumpeting about killing characters. A 20 HD plesiosaur against first level characters? I don’t think you rolled that, and if you did and didn’t mitigate it, you have the good sense of a turnip. He’s an inarticulate shiller: yeah, we heard about the Keep a... more
This podcast rules. If you love D&D, this will easily become your favorite show as these two brilliant raconteurs explore all the lore, origins, rules and idiosyncrasies of Advanced D&D with humor and nostalgia guiding the way. The show connects you to a wonderful old school gaming community with cons and magazines of their very own. Easily my favorite podcast of all time, i cannot recommend them enough to fans of AD&D, new and old.
One of the best 1e podcasts out there and the random encounter for episode 70 was the best one ever.
Found GrogTalk looking for AD&D podcasts and have loved every minute of the first three episodes! Am bingeing them now to catch up and trying to find a way to get to Florida for GrogCon! Dan and James do a great job explaining the feel, tone and ethos of 1e. Makes me feel like I’m back in 1981 playing the best edition of D&D. Keep up the good work!
105 Episodes in and the sound quality sounds like they are literally phoning in. Can't take it anymore, sorry fellas.
