Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Antoine Didienne – The Luxury of Simplicity: The Documentary Approach to Wedding Photography That Changes How Couples Remember Their Day | Episode #286
Q: What does a couple get from this documentary approach that they wouldn't get from a more traditional shoot?
Antoine explains that couples feel connected to their photos in a deeper, more authentic way because the storytelling focuses on realism and emotion rather than staged perfection, countering the Pinterest-esque look with intentional, authentic moments.
Courtney Victoria – It Was Always There: How Macro Photography Trains You to See What You've Been Walking Past | Episode #282
Q: What advice would you give to someone starting macro photography in a familiar local environment?
Start close to home, slow down, observe, and look for green things or simple prompts to spark curiosity; you don't need dramatic locations to tell meaningful stories.
Courtney Victoria – It Was Always There: How Macro Photography Trains You to See What You've Been Walking Past | Episode #282
Q: How has your approach to light influenced your macro work?
I blend natural and artificial light to sculpt mood and texture, using lighting to emphasize drama or softness and to compensate for the typically dark woodland conditions where macro work happens.
Courtney Victoria – It Was Always There: How Macro Photography Trains You to See What You've Been Walking Past | Episode #282
Q: What draws you to macro photography and keeps you engaged with it today?
There are countless hidden stories in the tiny world around us, and macro allows me to slow down, observe, and interpret those details in a way that reveals a larger narrative about nature and perception.
Alin Tolea – The Tinkerer Turning Vintage Cameras into Instant Memory Machines | Episode #277
Q: Do you see yourself expanding your work beyond Polaroid-style backs to other formats or cameras?
Expansion is possible but requires compatible coverage and tooling; it's about selecting formats where the camera body and film back can cooperate effectively without compromising the core process.
