  • Keeping Trying! There are some gems!

    Since narrators are volunteers, there are some with poor skills and equipment. However, there is such a large library that you will find hundreds of hours of listening. Try various books and don’t judge based on one narrator. There is also a website with a forum which allows you to find information on specific narrators (including accents). This will probably not be the podcast for someone who wants a specific book (though you may get lucky!) but with an open mind and some trial and error you wi... more

  • Free. Variable readers. Intrusive ads.

    Librivox recordings are made by volunteers who are sometimes terrible but usually better than tolerable. There’s 60 seconds of ad to skip at start and more are periodically inserted. Podcast apps with FF skipping and with multiple speed settings will mitigate these irritations some.
