I stumbled across this podcast a year ago doing some work on Abraham kuyper and was thrilled to hear content on his Stone lectures. It is absolutely fantastic. I love the camaraderie and the give-and-take among hosts, I love you get to hear from people who are working in depth in this field and yet who are motivated by a love for Christ and the church and a pastoral heart for people. Keep it up guys – this is been a privilege, especially for those of us without local access to the academy
The hosts are the worlds leading experts on Bavinck. Listening in on their thoughtful and informed conversations is a rare gift.
I find the Grace In Common podcast to be a regular, refreshing, and rich reminder of the theological treasures of Abraham Kuyper, Herman Bavinck, and the Dutch Reformed tradition which followed them. The hosts and guests of this podcast form an excellent group of dialogue partners for growing in virtue, rigor, and clarity in theologizing.
I love they discuss neo-Calvinism, but I hate that they do it with modernist, woke, revolutionaries (the very people Kuyper waged battle against). Multiple sodomites affirmers on the show and are never qualified (Wolterstorf and Bratt), and Sutanto is more of a philosopher with that Biola baggage than a Kuyperian. I give it 2, rather than 1, because I’m able to listen with discernment but I fear for the young seminarian or interested lay person who knows no better. Pro Rege.
Their conversations are always riveting and push me deeper into neo-Calvinistic thought. As a reformed Baptist, they’ve got me thinking in much more robust ways about my own confession and how I inhabit the world in the 2024. Would love to see this program developed further in the future (website, blog post, etc).
