Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Multi-Sensory Surgical Robots – With Philipp Fürnstahl
Q: What sort of surgical procedures would be the first to benefit from robotic assistance, and which are more aspirational for the next 5–10 years?
Spine procedures are currently a top near-term focus due to the need for extremely high precision, followed by broader minimally invasive approaches; ultrasound integration and remote, Da Vinci–style control are likely to appear within a few years, with true autonomy still farther on the horizon.
Collaborative Housing: Pathway to a Better Future? – With Darinka Czischke
Q: From your perspective, how big is the housing access crisis in Europe, and is it as serious globally as it seems from media headlines?
The issue is less a single acute crisis and more a structural inadequacy of existing systems to provide housing that fits changing demographics and needs; it's a chronic, persistent problem rather than a short-term emergency.
Saving the Future of News – with Mark Eisenegger
Q: What can leaders do to improve the information environment?
Encourage constructive dialogue across opposing viewpoints, support media literacy from education onward, and push for platform accountability and clearer labeling to help the public distinguish reliable sources.
Saving the Future of News – with Mark Eisenegger
Q: What is the most surprising finding from your research on disinformation and news quality?
Despite widespread concern, stricter methodologies show that misinformation may occupy a relatively small share of the average news diet, suggesting the problem is nuanced and partly tied to perception and engagement.
Saving the Future of News – with Mark Eisenegger
Q: What inspired you to get into disinformation research?
The interest grew from studying quality of public communication and observing how resource constraints and platform dynamics affect what people learn and think, which led to focusing on disinformation as a core quality issue.
