I don't enjoy this podcast. The host speaks English all the time. I wish to learn some French, but here I just practice my English listening skills.
The content is good, particularly episodes on alternative ways to say common things so that you aren’t overusing the same words. However the host does sound like she learnt English from endlessly rewatching Mary Poppins or Downton Abbey - I’ve never heard a non-native English speaker trying so hard to replicate the poshest English accent imaginable. She also spews so many English idiomatic sayings with the cumulative effect being just a bit showy for my liking.
I’m currently between beginner and intermediate French and whilst I can gauge a fair bit of what’s been said it would be more helpful if we go through what’s been discussed after, especially where there aren’t any lesson notes and much of this is conversational. Great episodes though.
FINALLY!! A French podcast that actually explains things - like the R. The podcaster must have knowledge of linguistics or some training as a Speech Path because she is very detailed in her instructions. Merci!
I’ve been studying french a few years now and this show is the answer to the concerns I’ve had as far as sounding native beyond just an accent. Just listened to episode 16, does this affect written french as well or is it a mostly spoken change?
