A Family Legacy to Live By
Q: What are your future plans for the car?
Robert hopes to take the Mustang to car shows, fix remaining hubcap issues, and continue preserving the car as a family legacy for future generations.
A Family Legacy to Live By
Q: What work do you think has been done on the car, and are you driving it now?
The car has seen various repairs and updates over the years, including aftermarket air conditioning added by the grandfather and a center console; it runs reliably enough for casual use and occasional trips.
A Family Legacy to Live By
Q: Take me back to maybe some of the earliest memories that you have of the car. Is your grandfather the one who originally purchased it new?
I believe he purchased it brand new in 66 or 67, and they would have lived in the Florida space coast area at that time.
Five Decades of Mustang Ownership
Q: So tell me about that initial, origin story. What fascinated you with Mustangs and how did you end up finding this car?
I was working at a Shell station when the owner of two Mustangs was trying to sell one; my father offered to buy it for me and I would repay him, which started a fifty-year ownership and a deep personal bond with the car.
Patina Over Perfection, Jon Davis and His 1965 Mustang Pony
Q: How did you first come to own Pony and what drew you to it?
I grew up around Fords and had a deep appreciation for this car from stories and photos; when the opportunity came up with the family connection, I made the decision to bring Pony into my life, embracing its history, quirks, and the adventure of driving a classic that tells a real story.
