V8_Elise_Butt_&_Bernard_Garry_ASE
Q: Any advice for budding commercial editors?
Don't be afraid of the whole idea of advertising, because if you worked as an assistant or a junior editor in advertising for a couple of years, the experience you'll get will be huge.
V8_Elise_Butt_&_Bernard_Garry_ASE
Q: Is there a sense that it can be a good platform into feature form editing, for example?
Yeah, absolutely.
V8_Elise_Butt_&_Bernard_Garry_ASE
Q: Do you have a favourite sort of slot?
If they come through with their inquiry and from the get-go, they've listed like a 90 as part of the deliverables, then you think, okay, there's going to be some real storytelling in it.
V8_Elise_Butt_&_Bernard_Garry_ASE
Q: Can you talk me and the other listeners through the process of a commercial, whether you're given a storyboard? How does it work from day one?
The type of directors that Elise and I work with use storyboards as a guide for shooting, but finding the actual idea and stories is a process.
2V4_Roger_Carter_ASE_&_Rebecca_Richardson (nee Murphy)
Q: Is there a sort of a wind down process that you both have after a day's worth of intense work?
Both editors mentioned their exhausting work, with one using the commute to unwind and the other enjoying quiet time after intense editing sessions.
